Trauma Counseling

TRAUMA Counseling

Individual counseling is when a person works one-on-one with a mental health counselor. It allows the individual to explore their feelings, beliefs, and behaviors. In general, individual counseling aims to talk through mental health issues. Likewise, it may help facilitate individual healing and growth.  Counselors strive to guide people in movement toward a more productive and healthy life.

Any individual who seeks to work on overcoming or heal their mental health struggles needs support.

How To Heal From Trauma

What is Trauma?

Trauma is an emotional response to any extremely distressing or disturbing event. Although trauma is a normal response, the effects can severely affect one's ability to cope in everyday life. Likewise, it can cause a lack of trust in yourself and others. Furthermore, it can lead to a myriad of other negative behaviors.

So, you can imagine how a traumatic experience can cause psychological trauma for a child. As a result, it can be difficult for them to cope and even function from day to day.

What Is Complex Trauma?

There are so many circumstances or events that can be traumatic for an individual. It is challenging to process major life changes like illness, death, or job loss. As adults, we may be exposed to many traumatic events in our life.

  • Medical trauma- severe physical pain or injury
  • Serious illness

  • Natural and human-made disasters
  • Suicide or death of a family member, friend, teacher, or pet
